I have been a MENSA member since 1991. I offered my services to the group, and in 2005 I built the SCM Group 66 website. It's mostly PHP-driven with a couple of Perl CGI scripts for some features. For the present, its main purpose is to make the monthly newsletter available to group members as well as the monthly calendar of events. I built a simple PHP templating system to streamline and simplify the process of getting the monthly updates posted, and in the near future I will be rolling out a user-authenticated version so that only group members can access current and proposed new areas of the site. For now, however, all site content is available to visitors. |
